The Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Salamanca (IBSAL) is a research institution based in Salamanca, Spain. Established in 2011, it is a collaboration between the Regional Ministry of Health of Castilla y León and the University of Salamanca, with the Spanish National Research Council joining in 2012. IBSAL focuses on biomedical research, particularly in clinical, epidemiological, and health service themes. IBSAL integrates research from various entities, including the University Hospital of Salamanca and the biomedical departments of the University of Salamanca. The institute is also exploring the application of artificial intelligence in understanding brain dynamics. To facilitate the translation of research into clinical practice, IBSAL has developed a transfer platform called I.T. SAL, which enhances collaboration among researchers, institutions, and companies to benefit society and patients. The institute employs 74 people and is dedicated to advancing biomedical research in the region and beyond.
