The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1969, consisting of 57 member states across four continents. It serves as the collective voice of the Muslim world, focusing on safeguarding the interests of its members and promoting international peace and harmony. The OIC's headquarters is currently in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with plans for a permanent location in East Jerusalem. The OIC engages in various diplomatic efforts, humanitarian assistance, and development initiatives. It collaborates with international organizations, including UN agencies, to tackle issues such as terrorism, Islamophobia, and economic inequality. The organization also established the Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Affairs Department (ICHAD) to coordinate humanitarian aid and has facilitated networks to enhance humanitarian responses among member countries. Through political summits, conferences, and specialized agencies, the OIC works to foster cooperation and development among Muslim nations.
