Perodua derived its name from its official company name, Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd A private limited company, Perodua was established in 1993 with the aim of bringing complete mobility to Malaysians through practical and high-value products and services that are delivered with the greatest of care. Our all-round portfolio comprises vehicle manufacturing, research and development, sales, after-sales, body and paint repair as well as pre-owned vehicles. The Perodua Smart Build is designed to help Perodua and the automotive ecosystem reap the benefits of the National Automotive Policy by making the industry more competitive and progressive. Chief among the components of Perodua Smart Build are full product development by Perodua and its suppliers, the establishment of a first-class working culture and first-class thinking that will be able to contribute to the nation. In essence, Perodua Smart Build works to improve mobility for all, from incorporating advanced safety features in our products, to minimising our carbon footprint. In fact, Perodua is Malaysia's first and biggest Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) manufacturer, having produced and sold over a million EEVs to date. As of 31 December 2021, Perodua has sold over 4 million vehicles, supporting a host of Malaysian suppliers, dealers and business partners. This in turn creates jobs, gives rise to investment opportunities and fortifies the nation's economy. Perodua's headquarters sits on a 522-acre site in Sungai Choh, Rawang, comprising its corporate building, two vehicle manufacturing facilities, a research and development facility with test track, a distribution stockyard, a parts centre, an eco-garden, and a child-care centre.
