The Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) is a global network comprising over 800 grassroots groups, NGOs, and individuals across more than 90 countries. Its mission is to create a just, toxic-free world by ending waste pollution and promoting regenerative zero waste solutions that enhance environmental justice and social equity. GAIA operates through regional offices and focuses on four key areas: incineration, zero waste, plastic pollution, and climate change. The organization campaigns against incineration, advocates for zero waste strategies, and works to reduce plastic pollution. It also integrates zero waste approaches into climate action policies and promotes sustainable waste management practices. GAIA provides resources such as research reports, policy analyses, and campaign toolkits to support its members and allies. Additionally, it facilitates training and community support to empower local campaigns and foster knowledge exchange.
