Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) is a subsidiary of IOCL with world class refining technologies and a dominant presence in South India. It is one of the most complex refineries with Fuel, Lube, Wax and Petrochemical feedstocks production facilities. Over the past five decades, the company has gone through an eventful, growth-oriented phase to reach the present stature of 10.5 MMTPA crude processing capacity. CPCL has also made pioneering efforts in various field as detailed below: Renewable Energy and Water Conservation: Setting up a Wind Farm and Sewage Reclamation plant, where 5 MGD of sewage water from Chennai city is processed to meet the raw water requirements of the refinery. The 5.8 MGD Sea Water Desalination Plant to augment the water requirements of our refinery was the first of its kind in our Petroleum industry. CPCL is proud to be forerunner in manufacturing and supplying indigenously produced fuel to the defense sector. Paraffin wax produced at CPCL is supplied mainly to Domestic and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises which support the livelihood of 30,000 beneficiaries. In a Joint venture with IOCL, CPCL is setting up a new Refinery of 9.0 MMTPA capacity at Cauvery Basin, Nagapattinam along with a Petrochemical facility at a Project Cost of Rs. 31,580 Crore. The project adopts latest indigenous technologies for the main process units, as part of the nation's vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. The project also generates 13 million Man-days employment, thereby promoting economic development of the region. CPCL has set an exemplary track record in the environmental field by implementing various ‘Environmental Protection & Conservation Measures' from time to time enabling sustainability over the years.
