The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) is a global business network founded in 2011, focused on creating a corruption-free maritime industry that supports fair trade. With over 220 member companies, including vessel owners, cargo owners, and maritime service providers, MACN exemplifies collective action against corruption in the maritime sector. MACN's mission is to eliminate corruption through a structured governance model that includes a steering committee and an active Board. The network operates from its secretariat in Copenhagen, Denmark, and engages in various activities centered around three strategic pillars: Capability Building, Collective Action, and Culture of Integrity. These initiatives enhance members' abilities to manage corruption risks, foster collaboration with governments and NGOs, and promote integrity within the maritime community. MACN also provides tools and frameworks to support its members, including an incident reporting system, training programs, and collective action projects aimed at improving transparency in high-risk regions. Through these efforts, MACN helps its members navigate corruption challenges and implement effective anti-corruption practices.
