The Autorité de sûreté nucléaire et de radioprotection (ASNR) is a newly formed entity that integrates the missions and activities of the former Autorité de sûreté nucléaire (ASN) and Institut de radioprotection et de sûreté nucléaire (IRSN). It was established on January 1, 2025, in response to the challenges of the nuclear sector's revival. ASNR is responsible for regulatory, control, research, and expertise activities related to nuclear safety and radioprotection. It oversees nuclear installations, medical, industrial, and veterinary activities, and radioactive substance transport. ASNR also engages in international relations and supports technical assistance and training.
