Ratified by the Ministry of Education in May 2004, Beijing Information Science & Technology University (BISTU) is a school of higher education and a merger in founding process of Beijing Institute of Machinery and Beijing Information Technology Institute. The university takes engineering as its main faculty combined with management, liberal and science programs. The university comprises two schools, one division and about 20 departments, they are: School of Business; School of Continuing Education; Postgraduate Division; Department of Mechanical Engineering; Department of Electronic Information Engineering; Department of Computer and Automation; Department of Information Technology and Communication Engineering; Department of Computer Information System and Department of Economic Trade etc. The university now offers 19 Master programs and 30 Bachelor degree programs. Recently, the university has total number of 17,000 students, including undergraduates and postgraduates. The present total faculty number is 1600, among them specialty teachers are near 800, with titles of full and associate professors numbered 400.
