Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) is a grade-A tertiary hospital, engaged in clinical practice, medical education, oncological research and cancer prevention. Historically, it can be traced back to Sino-Belgian Radium Institute established on March 1, 1931, the earliest specialized hospital of oncology in China. FUSCC, authorized to offer 800 beds, actually has 1,259 in operation. The year of 2016 witnessed 1,279,000 outpatient and emergency visits, including 150,000+ first visits; 37,700 surgeries and 64,700 hospitalizations with the average stay length of 6.93 days. FUSCC topped the counterparts across the country in terms of operation efficiency. As to scientific research, a number of 144 research projects were in hand in the accumulative total of RMB59,920,000.00, including 44 funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China (RMB24,500,000.00), out of which were published 338 SCI papers (1,255 IFs in total), 118 of them individually accounting for 5+ IFs in JCO, Nature, JNCI, etc. Additionally, FUSCC was authorized 10 patents, 3 for invention and 7 for utility model. FUSCC, which is well-staffed, well-equipped, well-skilled and well-managed, is deeply committed to providing patients with quality medical services in the palatable and comfortable treating environment.
