The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) is an international research initiative that promotes innovative and interdisciplinary basic research in the life sciences. Established in 1989, it is managed by the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO) based in Strasbourg, France. The program supports research aimed at understanding the complex mechanisms of living organisms, from biomolecules to interactions between species. HFSP offers funding opportunities such as postdoctoral fellowships and research grants, which encourage collaboration among scientists from various countries and disciplines. The program has awarded over 7,000 grants to researchers from more than 70 countries, with many awardees achieving significant recognition, including 28 Nobel Prizes. HFSP is supported by a consortium of countries and organizations, fostering groundbreaking research that leads to advancements in the life sciences.
