Since the construction of a zinc smelter with an annual capacity of 50 thousand tons in 1978, the company has been continuing to develop its technology and investing into equipment and facilities, which have allowed it to expand its smelting expertise beyond zinc. The company currently the company processes approximately 1.2 million tons of 16 types of metals annually. Korea Zinc is the global No.1 producer of zinc, lead, silver, and indium, and it also supplies copper and various rare metals in eco-friendly way. Korea Zinc, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024, has set new future initiatives that will lead it through the next half-century. These three new business areas, dubbed "Troika Drive," are renewable energy and green hydrogen, EV battery materials, and resource circulation through extreme recycling. Korea Zinc plans to utilize both its innovative technological prowess, built through the years as a smelter, and the three new business areas synergistically, achieving sustainable growth and establishing the company as a force of good for its investors, staff, society, and the environment.
