Higher Education
Kobe University is one of the oldest national universities in Japan, tracing its origins back to the establishment of Kobe Higher Commercial School in 1902. Under the university's philosophy of "integrity, freedom and cooperation," we aim to contribute to society by disseminating information gained through our education and research. The university is made up of 11 faculties, 15 graduate schools, one research institute and many centers covering the four disciplines of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and biomedical sciences. Currently, there are approximately 11,000 undergraduate and 4,500 graduate students enrolled at Kobe University, including over 1,300 international students from 87 countries and regions. We have concluded academic agreements with 392 universities and institutions in over 65 countries and regions. The campuses are spread across multiple locations — including Rokkodai, Tsurukabuto, Kusunoki, Myodani, Fukae and Port Island — serving as diverse academic hubs.
