Beyond Plastics is a nationwide initiative based at Bennington College in Vermont, launched in January 2019. The organization aims to eliminate plastic pollution by uniting environmental policy experts with grassroots advocates. It seeks to foster a movement that drives necessary changes in institutions, economies, and society to address the impacts of plastic on health, climate, and the environment. The mission of Beyond Plastics includes educating the public and policymakers about plastic pollution, engaging businesses to reduce single-use plastics, training future leaders in the anti-plastics movement, and advocating for policies that limit plastic production and waste. The organization provides policy and advocacy expertise, engages in public education, and publishes research reports to inform stakeholders about the plastics industry's role in the climate crisis. Judith Enck, the founder and President, leads the organization with her extensive background in environmental protection and policy.
