SPAR Österreich ist ein zu 100 Prozent privates österreichisches Familienunternehmen. Die Anteile an SPAR Österreich halten noch immer zum größten Teil jene Familien, die bei der Gründung der SPAR AG ihre Betriebe in das Unternehmen eingebracht haben. Und Mitglieder dieser Familien führen das Unternehmen noch heute: Die Nachkommen der Gründerväter und Eigentümer-Familien bilden heute den SPAR-Vorstand. Seit der Gründung ist SPAR Österreich von Jahr zu Jahr gewachsen – auch über die Grenzen hinaus hat SPAR in den benachbarten Ländern äußerst erfolgreich Fuß gefasst. Mit über 44.700 Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern ist SPAR der größte private österreichische Arbeitgeber. Der Jahresumsatz von 6,88 Milliarden Euro im Jahr 2018 stellt ein Wachstum von 4,0 Prozent zum Vorjahr dar. Somit kann SPAR unter den Vollsortimentern das neunte Jahr in Folge das höchste Wachstum erzielen. Mit den Nachbarländern Nordost-Italien, Slowenien, Ungarn und Kroatien beschäftigt die SPAR Österreich-Gruppe mittlerweile insgesamt rund 82.700 Menschen. Auch in vielen anderen Bereichen – zum Beispiel bei der Ladenarchitektur, der Sortimentsgestaltung, in der Logistik sowie im Marketing – setzt SPAR stets neue Maßstäbe. Damit es gelingt, die Vision vom österreichischen Handelsunternehmen zum mitteleuropäischen Handelskonzern zu erreichen und die Marke SPAR noch weiter voranzutreiben.
