CGN UK (also known as GNI) is the British arm of CGN, a leading global clean energy company headquartered in Shenzhen, China, which has diverse interests including hydropower, wind power and solar, as well as nuclear power, fuel and financing. The company is the world's biggest developer of new nuclear power stations. Altogether it employs approximately 42,000 people around the world. In the UK CGN is an investor and industrial partner in the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C new nuclear projects alongside EDF. It is leading the development of the project to build the HPR1000 reactor technology at Bradwell B, subject to regulatory approvals. It also operates 340MW of onshore wind power in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as in the Republic of Ireland. In short, CGN is already playing a very significant role in the UK energy sector, and in particular to bringing decarbonised power to this country.
